At Harris Orthodontics, we offer different types of braces to help our patients get the best results. Dr. Peyton Harris will perform a thorough evaluation to determine your orthodontic condition and treatment. We offer all types of braces including metal braces, gold braces, and clear braces. You can remain certain that you will feel confident and comfortable when undergoing your treatment towards a better and healthier smile.
Clear Braces
Clear braces, as the name suggests, are inconspicuous. They have brackets made of tooth-colored or clear materials. If you want braces that are close to a natural tooth color and don’t want anyone to notice, these may be the ideal option for you.
These braces are usually made of ceramic materials. They stand out for their subtler looks and require periodic monitoring to ensure they are in great shape. We will usually recommend clear braces for use on upper front teeth.
Metal Braces
Metal braces, also known as traditional braces, are simply the most commonly used braces. They have been in use for decades, and for good reasons. Modern metal braces are lightweight and thin. They are far better than older versions in that they are:
- Faster to install
- Smaller
- More effective
- More comfortable
Our metal braces are more popular among our younger patients. The process of setting these braces involves placement and application to the teeth before connecting them, using a wire. Elastic ties are used to tie the wire to the braces. These elastic ties are available in various colors and are based on your personal preferences. Once placed, you will visit our office every 1-2 months for adjustments.
Many parents prefer metal braces in that there is no need to remind their children about wearing them. We recommend taking good care of these braces and maintaining good oral hygiene.
Gold Braces
There is also the option of gold braces. These are similar to traditional metal braces but are gold in color. They are fixed to the front of the teeth, like traditional metal and clear braces. Many of our patients, including children, adolescents, and adults, prefer the look of the gold-colored braces. They are effective and can be placed without being as noticeable as traditional braces.
Gold braces have the same efficacy as traditional metal braces. Having the same efficiency in enabling movements such as:
- Closing extraction spaces
- Correcting rotations
- Changing teeth height
