According to the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO), your child should see an orthodontist around the age of 7. Children have developing jaws and teeth, which means the effects of orthodontic treatments would be more prominent and quick in them. But you can get orthodontic treatment as an adult too.
There is no definite answer to this because the treatment period depends on different factors, like complexity of the case, age of the patient, orthodontic equipment, etc. When you come to our orthodontic office, Dr. Harris will be able to give you the expected time required for the treatment.
It actually depends on the type of orthodontic treatment you are undergoing. For example, if you have braces on, you can’t have sticky food. But if you are wearing the Invisalign, they are removable, and this means you can take them off at the time of eating.
Yes, absolutely. It is very important to clean your teeth professionally at regular intervals after getting your braces. Food can get stuck anywhere on the braces, and it would be difficult to remove them with brushing. Regular cleaning would ensure your oral health, by removing the food particles, and cleaning any plaque accumulation on the braces.
You might feel discomfort and get sores initially after putting the braces on. But that is temporary and will go away as your mouth gets adjusted to it. In case you still feel discomfortable and are getting sores even after a few weeks of getting the braces, contact your orthodontist. They will make the required adjustments to rid you of this issue.
At Harris Orthodontics, we use cutting-edge technology and a streamlined process to offer our braces-in-a-day service for your convenience. Between work, school, and other chores, lack of time can be a major factor that prevents you from getting orthodontic treatment. With our braces-in-a-day, there is no need to miss out on another day of work or school.
